On a playdate with a mutual friend this past summer, Henry met this sweet girl......and was enchanted.  We later met at a spray park and he followed her around all afternoon and needed to sit right beside her.  For weeks he talked about his "girlfriend".  After taking these photos, they ended up at the same playdate again.  He randomly stated to me later that day: Yep, I'm gonna marry her!

I'm sitting here in a bit of a daze.....my baby girl is turning 3.  I am amazed at the changes that have happened in the last year, in fact, just in the last few months.  A true Mama's girl, yet independent when it suits her (like when it comes to washing her hair....or choosing her clothes).  A sweet little girl who'll walk up and down the house, or the store, or the hockey arena, bouncing and shushing her baby.  This instinct that she has to nurture is amazing to me....to see it at such an early age.

Here's my latest Lily story:

With the abundance of candy in the house you can imagine the extra want.  Bring in Lily….sneaking behind me to where the candy is kept.  Grabbing a pack of Rockets, & running away.  And then she comes back, throws the half pack back in the bag and then "sneaks" off.  30 seconds later, she's back for the rest of the pack…..I turn around…..she's wide eyed looking at me as I start laughing.  Busted!

My husband told me this story last night & I laughed until I was crying:

I was away at a retreat so my husband had to take all 3 kids to Jack's hockey on Sunday.  Of course he was rushing, like we always do, and Jack was the second last on the ice.  Jack steps on the ice, takes a stride, falls FLAT on his face.  Gets up, falls again.  And again.  About 4 times until they realize one of his soft skate guards is still on!  Coach picks him up, says "I think your Dad forgot something".....Jack has the most dazed look like What is going on?  I can't skate all of a sudden???!!!.  Oh how I wished I could've been there for that!  And been lucky enough to get video!

Mark (the husband featured below): you drive through Calgary?  You can cut an hour off of your drive by going through Cochrane. Follow us. 


Us (me): following....Mark somehow missing the turn and heading down an old farm road. 


Mark: driving 120 down said farm road.  


Jack: slow down....you're making me nervous!!!!


We did eventually make it to the main highway....did we save time?  Not so sure!

10 years ago I stood up next to these two as they were married....it's so amazing to be able to capture this time in their lives.  Love you guys!

...for my family and our health
...for friends who are there for support
...for work (even at times like this when we're so busy we don't know which end is up)
...for a surprise dinner brought home by my husband on a day I think I may not see him at all
...for days like today....so beautiful that we had to get out for a nature walk to collect leaves, sticks and rocks
